Wheat is the dominant crop in the region. These Evocative scenes from the Overberg whetlands between Swellendam and Bredasorp in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, especially in stormy weather or late of sunny evenings, also mask the destuction of 90% of the original habitat which is just surviving in fragments. In the next few postings I will show som eof the threatened beauty that still remains but is in dire need of protection. For more information read about the The Renosterveld Management & Conservation Project

stormfish striking landscapes, and oddly enough - very similar to those of a desert, even though this is nurtured food.

what i hate the most about industrialized food production is the fact that it's not done for the benefit of feeding the expanding population of this world but most entirely to PROFIT very few land owners, corporations, shareholders, lobbyists, politicians, pesticide producers, etc.

we need to get smaller, diverse again, more resilient against greed.
