I am a writer and botanist interested in life’s journey, history, cultures, plants and futures thinking.

Photography is one of my passions. My approach is to seek the unusual angle and topic, shift its context, and try to reflect its soul and spirit. I like to work to themes and am drifting towards photo stories and photo poems.

I like the challenge of only publishing raw images but also enjoy the creative efforts of photo-editors. I have begun to use Picasa 2 to do minimum edits on some of my photographs.

I use a Nikon D40 with an 18-135mm lens.

I am working on a history of the the number seven, a book of poems and drawings, and a book on African Megaliths ('large stones').

These birds are remarkable. I think they are Nightjars. I have seen them in the wild, They are beautifully camouflaged.
g'day ;
sorry about my late reply ( i was in learning mode )
i was told they were owls, but a friend of mine is correcting me on 3 april 2008;
the birds of 30 july 2007 are about 35-45 cm;
the birds of 3 april 2008 (photographed about a week later) were less than half that size;

any suggestions ?
thanks
