Charm City is just one of the many (ironic) names that have been given to Baltimore. In a city with a higher violent death rate then Iraq (Baltimore is 37.7 per 100,000; Iraq is 25.71 per 100,000) and one that consistently rates as having the least friendly people in the service industry, you can't call the place Charm City without a knowing smile. And yet, there really is something charming about living here. The people are gruff but welcoming. The city is beautiful and despite its high crime rate actually quite safe in many spots. We have two of the best hospitals in the world here and the Baltimore culture is something you have to experience for yourself. We've been labeled a dead city but for anyone that lives here there is a thriving community and culture that is unique to this city and has no plans on dying anytime soon. This city is a love it or hate it type of place and I think you know where I stand on that.
