Kashmir - Windows

2007.06.16

This is the original from that of the previous page. I think i pushed that one a bit too far.

This window comes from a building in the Shalimar Gardens in Srinagar, Kashmir. It is a relic from the Moghul Empire, dating back before 16th Century. I should check the dates though. The gardens were surprisingly English/European. Formal and with familiar plants. It was only the buildings that were Exotic.

Salman Rushdie wrote a book called Shalimar the Clown. That story, which i haven't read is based in Srinagar, I understand. I started to read it but i wasn't in the right mood to keep on with it. I hope to try again some day.

rolpa The original needs no modification! Lovely colours and form.

ShangriLa That's right rolpa. But if its a crummy original, its not being to be much better modified either, in my opinion. I always liked this picture but when i figured out how to get the weird colours, i was testing all my pics to see which ones came up interesting. You need a fairly particular colour composition to make the contrast pushing work well.
