A poor little stray dog who had been hit by a car, probably an auto-rickshaw, and left for dead. I spent all day getting a vet to come and to put it out of its misery. I thought it would die of thirst if left it there, as none of the locals showed any interest in doing anything for it. It was terrible.

Man collecting toddy. The juice from the coconut palm flower which will be made into alcohol. This is a job for low caste Indians. The people who own the trees have this man come along regularly to collect the juice.

Cherai Beach. It will be ruined soon with the influx of tourists. Its not exactly a perfect beach location but it was just what I needed when I went there. Quiet, friendly and not too many tourists. More expensive than it should be, however. There are a couple of resorts and quite a few guesthouses. At least of the tourists confine themselves to beach opposite the resort.
