This is a regular occurrence here. Particularly during the dry season when the palms seem to be in a state of continuous mault, ie frond dropping. I've learnt not to let the pile get too big. Once when we did that and when the burn was underway, a neighbour called the fire brigade because the size of the fire had them worried.
