First Panorama

Enlarge so you don't need to fish your magnifying glass out of the cupboard. This is part of my neighbours fence.

Still frittering. I made this yesterday. But I'm so chuffed to learn how to do this. It's quite easy. This panorama is made from three pictures but can be made from many more. Unfortunately, on photoblog, there's a maximum width that can be displayed, so the image still seems quite small even when enlarged.

I tell you photoshop is wonderful even if you are not going to get into the gizmology of composites and the weird and wonderful. So much better than a darkroom ever was. No nasty chemicals, no mess. Of course a bit of frustration and confusion when beginning. And for lazy people like me, sitting at a desk is a great improvement.

Many many photographers from all spheres will tell you that there is no observable difference between a hand made print and one made on the computer, using digital software and printers. I am not sure if this includes fibre based prints. I suspect it must be so. I think the only people who insist on still working with film and hand made prints are those who really enjoy the process of darkroom printing. If the results are indistinguishable you wonder why else they'd continue to do it.

There is a woman I know of who is preparing a book of her work shot on film. She is having to scan all her images to get them on computer. She makes this sound unbelievably tedious. I guess she has a great many to do. And I gather this is just so she can select which ones will be used in her book.

ShangriLa Oh now I am silly person. lol. I've been up since about 3am. My hours are so erratic at the moment. Every day is different but I don't care.

janec I really like this pic too. I think you might be writing a bit of a book here yourself with all your pictorial comments and blurbs. I like your style.
