My first pond under construction

The pond is going to be surrounded by a vegie bed. The bed is 4 metres across and the pond is supposed to be 2 metres across.

The first layer - carpet. I don't have the plastic yet but that comes next.

Lots of gardening books have instructions on building ponds but i've got one out of the library that i like called Ponds and Water Features by The Royal Horticultural Society. It gives a nice overview of the sorts of thing that possible. There are, however, no details about food plants. I know i'm going to put guppies in here but i'm not too sure about what edible plants are going in. I'd quite like a water lilly for the middle. The apparently like deep water. But I intend to build more so if the wl doesn't go in here it will go in somewhere else.

You amaze me! I think of doing these sorts of things but the ideas remain in my notebooks.
