Many dragonflies were resting on the warmth of the granite. Most were quite wary and I took many shots but couldn't get very close. I then had a dragonfly which buzzed by the brim of my hat. It did this a couple more times before setting down on the rock not far away. I then realized it was hawking for the deer flies which were pestering me and had just caught one! It was engrossed in decapitating and eating its prey and allowed me to get extremely close. I would appreciate comments on which of #3 or #4 people prefer. Personally I like the posture and wing position of #4 but the loose head of the deer fly in #3 is hard to pass up!

These were taken about 3 weeks ago now but I have just gotten to sorting through and picking the best of many shots. I tended to take a couple shots and then try to sneak closer for a couple more and so on until I had about 50 shots. I realized after that the rock was not the best background but that was where they were landing.
