bats in the ... basement

A few of these bats hibernate each winter. This one was in the most photogenic location. The others were in a tiny crack between a duct and a joist. Even with the flash it did not move. They do actually shift around to different joists/crevices although I have never seen one moving during my visits.

I love bats! They are so cute! One summer at the cottage Lex had one in her bedroom for a while.... we called it Stellaluna after the children's book of the same name!
