He's a beauty. A great inky black like you said. I enjoy your flying into Fridays! I use my left eye too. It's also the eye I use when I'm shooting a gun (for games) or a bow and arrow. It feels too weird to use my right eye.

very impressive...i remember grackles from when i lived in New York State...they are very striking birds with the yellow eye looking out from all that black/deep purple.
