Some views from my first day on Stromboli. I live on an island in Washington. It's funny how common some things are to island life no matter where you are in the world. Yet Stromboli has so much more warmth to it, both the climate and the people. As with every other part of Italy I've been to so far, I'm in love!

From Gusti's porch, Casa d'Iddu. Most houses on Stromboli have a name. The previous owner named his house Casa d'Kittycat or something. Gusti is working hard to rename it. What he doesn't realize is that Casa d'Kittycat is a real chick-magnet of a name. I won't spoil his illusions. Shhh!

Who needs to watch "Under the Tuscan Sun?" These photos are much better! Susan and I are planning a trip next year to Italy so these photos are really inspiring!
