It had started raining heavily off and on at this point. Many of the pictures of this rhino were quite dreamlike.

...a comedy dream, apparently, as the rhino's buddy -- a hyena who was accompanying him or her for no discernible reason* -- got a spray of urine as the big guy/gal marked territory. Omg, we laughed so hard!
* We did speculate that it had to do with small game being flushed out by the rhino's passage. No pun intended.

Hmm. Still pondering the use of grayscale. I think I'll have to go find some other shots that work better. Ooo! Maybe I'll go with sepia toned shots. Ooo, fun fun!

We didn't get very close to these Cape Buffalo. In fact, seeing them in pictures afterwards is providing much more detail than seeing them in person. Also, this completes our quest for "The Big 5" of safari sightings: lions, leopard, elephants, rhino, and buffalo.
Yes, we found them and shot them all! With our cameras, of course. ;)

Big kitty, so cute! Aww, having a bit of a scratch. Come here and I'll rub behind your ears if you promise not to eat me.

"Yow, baby! You are looking mighty fine doing that scratchin' thing. Rowwwr!"
"Back off, mister! I'm just here to unwind after work. I don't need some jerk hitting on me, for crying out loud. The least you could do is buy me a drink before making your move. Good grief, what are they teaching cubs in school these days?"

Will look up type of bird when I get home and have the African bird book in hand. Yes, a bird book in the hand is worth 2 in the bush, as they say...
[Edit: I believe this is a Superb Starling, but I don't see the black spots on the wings, and the angle makes it difficult to see if there is a white line separating the the throat color from the belly. Hmm.]

Between the first and second shot of these two, there was a separation, some bounding around and posturing, and a re-engagement. Action packed!
