Under and Over The River Mersey

2009.07.19

Janice (second left) wonders of this walk was really a good idea ...... and Jayne (third left) clearly thinks it isn't.
pixel
Sensible footwear was the order of the day for this two mile walk.
pixel
Music to take your mind off the fact that you're about to walk two miles underneath the River Mersey, through a tunnel that could give way and let the watre rush in, drowning you in a matter of minutes.

Did I ever tell you I was claustrophobic ?
pixel
2,000 people make their way into the tunnel. I'm hyperventilating just looking at this photo.
pixel
Keeping up a brisk pace.
pixel
Finally, light at the end of the tunnel.
pixel
'Team Doyle' successfully completed the walk ..... with no fatalities.
pixel
'Gangsta Jayne', professional athlete that she is, enjoying a post-walk smoke, and clearly loving every minute of it.
pixel
The Doyle Girls enjoy a spot of junk food after that gruelling two mile Sunday morning stroll.
pixel
Spot the freaks.
pixel
On our way home on the ferry over the Mersey ..... and Jayne is still angry at being forced into doing some exercise.

Today my friends and I completed the 'Under and Over The Mersey' charity walk through the Queensway Tunnel in Liverpool. This is a road tunnel under the River Mersey, in the north west of England, between Liverpool and Birkenhead.

ittakesallsorts Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant photos - they bring back memories of when we used to visit Ness in Wallasey once or twice a year (God bless her) - loved the ferry, Birkenhead market, the tunnels, the people, Eggy Prom and Pub and everything!!! Thank you for bringing it all back ;-}

Judith28 These photos made me laugh. They are a story in themselves! I love charity walks, people are so excited and seem to have a purpose. Great shots, capturing a wonderful memory.
