York is home to the National Railway Museum, where you can discover over 300 years of history and over a million wonderful objects.

'York Minster' is a Gothic cathedral and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe.

The Minster is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the second-highest office of the Church of England.

York has more miles of intact city walls than anywhere else in England, and some sections of the walls date back to Roman times.

The majority of the wall dates from the 12th to the 14th century.

busybee36 My husband was at Uni in York many years ago and I have fond memories of walking the snickleways, trying to get a pushchair down some of the smaller ones on a return visit some years later! lucky you finding that comfortable bed in the B&B.
