Day 18: Painted Pony
2008.05.18
Mom and Dad are leaving for the summer on Thursday, so they gave me my birthday present early. They always know to give me a painted pony. ;-) I love this one because it reminds me of when Sissy and I used to use crushed berries picked from the pasture (or lipstick) and draw on our horses those symbols because we wanted to be Indians. Bareback and all!

So detailed! It is called "Medicine Horse", it's a Plains Indian ceremonial horse. Everything on it, shields, a lance, a bow, a pipe, and the assorted amulets and talismans are believed to give the horse's owner power.
