Scene at the pier on Monhegan Island where our boat docked...Lots of stacked lobster pots and a truck belonging to a resident to transport persons staying overnight to one of the three small hotels here-
The "day-trippers:(like us) just start walking and exploring this fascinating place.

I have not been to this unique island off the coast of Maine(USA) for 22 years.
I was happy to find Monhegan Island......just the same!
It is still a long boat ride (90 minutes) to get out there from the mainland...
This timeless little island (only 60 year-round residents) is famous with well-known artists because of the beautiful scenery, isolation from ordinary life and light.
No cars are allowed and you walk everywhere... There is a tiny village ...a post office,3 rustic hotels, places to buy fresh seafood,an old church and artists' galleries (open only in the summer).
When you walk everywhere here, you quickly leave the village behind and you end up walking through woods to paths along rocky cliffs with dramatic views of the endless ocean.
Did I say magic? The magical quality of this special place is definitely still here.

A real trip down Memory Lane. Love the mermaid shot.
