Flutterbies 2 - the reprise

2009.07.31
Instantly recognisable, the magnificent Peacock (Inachis io).

Another fairly distinctive one; this is the Comma (Polygonia c-album). It's the only "punctuation series" buttefly commonly found in the UK.

The Common Blue (Polyommatus icarus)

A Silver-washed Fritillary (Argynnis paphia), one of our largest UK species.

The Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui), there have been a lot of these here this year. More than I can ever remember seeing.

A selection of butterflies, taken this afternoon at Bookham Common.

This is my second Flutterbies post, you can find the others -here-.

I think the Peacock is probably one of the world's prettiest butterflies, so I was happy to find some willing to pose for me :)

All in all, a productive photo session!

BuffyEyes I like your play on words. No. 4 looks cross-eyed. No. 1 has an Asian coloring to him. Beauties, all of them.
