Although I don't tend to take pictures in places of worship, there were no notices prohibiting photography in the Cathedral of Lisbon... well, at least none that I had seen. Given the stunning and eclectic architecture of the interior, I was sure I would one day regret not keeping a glimpse of it in my mind's eye.
Darkly stoic and foreboding from the outside, it was a delicate palette of styles within. An unlikely mix of romanesque and baroque, romantic and gothic - they all seemed to blend and interweave ever so perfectly. But it was really the half-ruined cloister secluded deep within the cathedral which affected me most...
You've convinced me - I MUST visit Lisbon! The last shot is really beautiful - I love the way the light is streaming in the door and windows, making it seem as though one is being beckoned to come closer....
