"Looking Back" (Martin, 2007)

For Rob C's 29th birthday we went to Isle Dream Cottage on the San Juan Islands. We arrived at night on a Thursday and Rob C was a little confused, expecting we'd be staying a hotel but instead we pulled into a dirt road and stopped before a small shed. We grabbed our things and Cooper and walked down a lighted path to the picturesque cottage. It was better in person than Rob M had imagined from just looking at the photographs online.

The next morning we awoke to the sun coming up over Mt. Constitution. It was breathtaking and Rob C immediatly began snapping pictures. We got up and got ready then walked down to the waterfront to look for starfish and otters. We found the starfish, but no otters. Then we headed into East Sound, the town, for breakfast at a waterfront restaurant and to shop some of the quaint shops.

After breakfast we explored the island driving up to Mt. Constitution and around some of the parks. We then came back to the cottage to unwind before getting ready for dinner at the Inn at Ship Bay. Dinner was AMAZING. Many of the ingredients were grown on the property like pears and salad greens. Rob M had a chicken breast with a thyme jus and mashed potatoes. Rob C had a beef tenderloin with a shallot red wine reduction and potato puree.

The next morning we got up and headed back to Seattle feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!

We later discovered this cottage made the front cover of "Coastal Living Magazine" for November, 2007.
