On the walk up the path to the pagoda, there are piles of rocks everywhere.

The top rock on this pile had a pattern on it that looked like Japanese writing.

The pile on the left is the one with the rock with the Asian-style markings mentioned above.

A monument. There was no one around that could explain what the writing says.

As you circumnavigate the pagoda, there are four alcoves with statues.

This is all that remains of the original structure. It was burned by an arsonist. Ironically, the cement foundation behind it holds a zen garden.
