Rollerblading to Maarssen

The weather was perfect for rollerblading: 26C and hardly any wind. The boy and me had a little rest at this gorgious little shed with the water of the Vecht running underneath it.

Maarssen! We had some drinks at this terrace overlooking the village and the water.

On the way back from Maarssen we saw this tiny ice car close to Oud Zuylen. The boy is buying us a cone with lime ice cream here. Mmmm!!

I have a pair of rollerblades in my trunk (car boot) that I've been too chicken to try out for a YEAR! If you get to have booze and ice cream while you're out, it seems less scary.

What a great day. I must get some rollerblades and go out along the river path here, it would be a fun thing to do one day. Though sadly no nice little terraces to have a drink, or ice cream vans!

Nice trip; but do tell: how the hell do you stop on those things? I tried it a few times, and was an accident waiting to happen.

I wish I could do that! I just never managed to master the art of breaking on rollerblades--shame they don't make rollerskates anymore (not that they'd be much good on roads)..
