A salad I made for a birthday dinner at my home

These are fruit sellers in Charminar, Hyderabad. Fascinating place. Google it.

Ah this... one of my favourite variety of fish. This is from the pomfret family and this in particular is the Golden Pomfret. I had prepared this (yep, I chop it up myself) for a steamboat dinner. What's steamboat? It's like a hot pot. Ah, why don't you just google it?

After breakfast at the Bukit Merah hawker centre. Here in Singapore, it's quite common to eat runny eggs with soy sauce. Hence you see the shells and the blot of soy on the table.

A Saturday afternoon indulgence...

If I had to plan my last meal, sashimi will feature very heavily in the menu. Though not pictured here, my favourite sashimi is otoro (too expensive to eat on a regular basis... usually a once every few years thing for me). But this selection, especially mekajiki, I enjoy.

This is the lunch which I shared with a dear friend of mine just a few hours before his wife, who was only 37, returned to the Lord after battling cancer for a number of years.

Non colour stay lipstick (obviously) on latte mug. Taken at the Botanic Gardens, Singapore

A bunch of us were celebrating something at my place... but can't remember what!

A meal I cooked when I hosted a birthday dinner at home for one of my closest friends.... why Doritos? He loves that stuff. So I indulged him. The rest of the items (apart from the grapes), I made.

The cous cous dish mentioned in the menu above... this is what it looked like.

Caesar Salad from BROTH, Singapore; one of their signature dishes.

My friend Matthew presenting.... drum roll (not spring roll) .... Chicken Pie! This is at BROTH which is where the above is from too.

Long Black from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Holland Village, Singapore

The Doritos mentioned in picture 10

I rarely ever eat red meat but if I do, it is usually for entertaining at home and this is my preferred butcher.

You gotta admire his amazing "handed down from his dad" chopping board made from a chunk of solid wood.

Bedok South Wet Market, Singapore.

Chive (koo chai) Dumpling from the Old Airport Road Hawker Centre, Singapore.

Home made pasta... those dried packed ones just won't do anymore!

Grapes... Californian.

Nonya Kueh (translated: Peranakan or Straits Born Chinese Cakes). Really yummy! Many of them are coconut based.

Fishballs and one of my favourites, tau kwa pau (it's a beancurd dish stuffed with stuff) from Mary's Corner at the junction of East Coast Road and Joo Chiat Road, Singapore. Yummy!!!

Essential item in my kitchen, a macro lens! No really, this is chilli padi... potent stuff!

Beef Kway Teow (noodles) with extra veggies!

Caesar Salad from a restaurant (not to be repeated) along Robertson Quay, Singapore.

Wagyu Beef burger with foie gras.... you may not appreciate it here but it was REALLY TINY. Not worth the money.

Tofu from Ho Kee Pau, Singapore. Used to really enjoy this but the quality has gone down over the years.

Scallops with chive infused oil and coriander which I made. Tasted ok but this variety of scallops wasn't appropriate as a stand alone dish as it was too tough (I didn't overcook it). I bought it because it was cheap. In retrospect, this type of scallops would be better if used in a vegetable dish. Next time...

A simple but delightful bakery along Robertson Quay, Singapore. They make really good breads and it's nice sitting out having a sarney right next to the Singapore River. And it's a fairly quiet area during the weekends too, which suits me just fine.

My sister's home baked sugee (semolina) cake. Very difficult to make but she turns it out perfectly. She was considering making a business out of it.

Added to curtail your appetite this post would invariably have ignited... though I'm sure some would eat this feller too.

East Coast Parkway, Singapore

FCMFotoguy Wow, it has been a long time for me, this food looks great.........
I remember the distinct flavor of the region. Each photo brought my senses into full power, aroma, sight, sounds of the establishments...the laughter that good food and friends bring and of course taste. Bravo ! Wonderful set.

meiling Hey, Danesh, you are bringing back to me many fond memories of our delicious Singapore food, but my favourite will always be laksa, fish head curry (but only at Banana Leaf Apollo), crab bee hoon and char kway teow. And for breakfast I'll have one of your koo chai or soong kway downed with a big cup of kopi goo-nee (I would give the runny eggs a miss, however).

Many thanks for sharing, hope you have had a good weekend.
