Alright, so I encountered one of "them" yesterday... (by them I am referring to a married couple who does not have kids or a single gal with no kids) "Them" look perfect as they run errands or eat lunch with friends -- no bags under the eyes, no spit up or milk on the shoulder, completely rested and have tons of money to spend on just "them"! Well, "them" looked at me and my two kids and smiled and told me how good I looked (no, I don't -- I have not had a shower in 2 days, brushed my hair today, have on sweats in 90 degree weather b/c they are the only thing that fit!, etc...) and told me how "easy" it must be to be a "stay at home mom"!!!! Ah, why? Why this assumption? I used to be a teacher and encountered and supervised over 200 kids a day -- it was so much "easier" than being a stay at home mom! (I was off at 3:30!!) Being a parent is not "easy"!! It is the greatest blessing and gift, but it is surely not "easy"! The reason I am a stay at home mom of two kids is becasuse it is what I felt compelled to do, not because it is easy.

I may sound jealous and maybe I am remembering a much more simple time before kids when I could sleep in, stay up late, and go on my own schedule -- but I would not change being a parent for the world! Being a parent is the most exciting, rewarding, exhausting, sa-weet!, difficult, wonderful, job in the world -- BUT, it is NOT easy!

Hi, my name is Abbey and I used to do keg stands and party hardy at UGA, now I watch the wiggles and have a purse full of crackers (ga-ga's), baby wipes, bottles and pacifiers!! thanks for listening to my ramblings today! :) Heres to all you workin' moms (whom I REALLY admire) AND stay at home moms!!

I read the news today oh, boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, i just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the house of lords

I saw a film today oh, boy
The english army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But i just had to look
Having read the book
I love to turn you on.

Woke up, got out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, i noticed i was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and i went into a dream
Ah

I read the news today oh, boy
Four thousand holes in blackburn, lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the albert hall
I'd love to turn you on

Richard I know what your talking about. I stayed home and looked after my daughter full time for two years.

MidsummerSilence I understand you completely! I am a working single mother of a 2.5 year old son. It most definitely is not easy and your photos show it for sure in this set! [ps. YES the magic eraser is AWESOME] your children are adorable and you're doing an amazing job! Keep up the great work super-mom! May the force be with you! NOTHING compares with the duties of a parent - NOTHING... we're an army in one person. :)

ccrowe13 This came at the perfect time - I am struggling with motherhood this week. It seems like every minor decision I make about my child (chicken fingers or pb&j, run errands and then nap, or nap and then run errands, balmex or aquafor) is going to have some long-term impact that will ensure AEF will be on the sofa of a shrink some day!
