For 65 days the Indians of the TIPNIS forest have walked to oppose the construction of a road that would irreparably damage the Bolivian Amazon. More than 2,000 men, women and children have walked 570 km from the forest near sea level up to 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) in the highlands where the Bolivian capital of La Paz is located. They have resisted fatigue, hunger and political repression in this epic march in defense of the environment
How many of us who call ourselves environmentalists would do the same?
In my opinion Bolivian Indians accomplish just one of the great milestones in defense of the rain forest I think they are heroes.
