a tortoise is a wild animal .. the female drops her eggs and never looks back .. at hatching the little animals go their own way, they don't stay in groups, they are wild animals, they like being on their own ..
.. so you can't make a pet of a turtle .. the neighbours moved unexpectedly and 'en catastrophe', living me one 1" long wild water turtle ... in a special little container with water .. it sees me coming from far, tries to run away and hide .. little eye watching !

I don't think I could be a turtle mother--never looking back at her brood! I have to worry about everything! He is a handsome little fellow--your shot is very endearing.
