Bentou Party 2 - 10 months down the line

2007.11.02
My extensive and most probably pornographically expensive.

Cooked O-kazu. Traditionally, some kind of cooked meat,a sweet and a twig of seasonal vegetation.

Vegetable O-kazu. Traditionally simmered vegatables. and a sweet.

Tempura O-kazu.

O-tsukuri O-kazu. Traditionally seasonal raw fish.

Rice O-kazu. Traditionally flavoured rice and pickels (of course, this is Kyoto)

Cook-it-yourself

This is actually Sato-imo (lit. Village Tuber) made into the shape of a Matsutake mushroom. I was impressed, if slightly disappointed, since I do not much like Sato-imo.

Hey, the rotary welcome party food made a return today. It was an interesting experiment to see how my tastes have changed. I enjoyed this food thoroughly, as opposed to when I first came, when I was somewhat apprehensive with regards to the fish roe and sashimi. This time, we also had a little cook-it-yourself burner. Yay!

Also, although the Rotarians were strictly enforcing the 'no-drinking' policy at the beginning, I knew them better than that, and a few minutes into the boozing session they were plying me with all the alchol at the table, including a pleasant French chardonnay, and a copious amount of Kirin lager.

I just wish they had told me beforehand that they wanted me to give a piano concert in front of the whole club. And you know what? I was just drunk enough to do it. God damn that horrible electric piano...
