Cycling on Sunday

2007.10.07
Three weekends ago I thought it was the last sunny weekend before autumn would knock on the door. It didn't yet although leaves are shedding in many shades of colour now. The soft weather was a good reason to cycle and explore the area of Alphen aan de Rijn where my friends live. This is a city in the middle of what is called the green heart of the Randstad in The Netherlands. This green heart is somewhat endangered though because of building projects. Now, this shot really represents my country: a granny bike (men's style) and our famous milk cows.

Another typical landscape. Not only the windmill, but at the right there is a dyke, used as a cycle path, protecting the adjacent lower lying meadow.

As from 27th August I daily want to show little hints of my appartment and its surroundings. Next to a picture a small story comes along about the objects-subjects. I mean: behind every image there is a story and behind every story there is a person. And that idea I like! I hope you will enjoy following these pictures and stories as much I hope to enjoy making them. And although I am not very materialistic, I do hope to look at the things surrounding me differently along the way.
