Held the day after the Lt. Trillianes led rebellion/standoff at the Makati Manila Peninsula Hotel. This multi-sector rally called for RP pres GMA to resign.
I don't know the official count but it was somewhere between 7 to 8 thousand protesters. As they marched toward the government buildings they faced a line of police officers and watercannons. Luckily GMA probably didn't want two days of rebellion so the police remained peaceful.
Also the presence of so many foreign media probably helped.
Other rally points included:
- call to release of former VP Teofisto Guingona, Bishop Julio Labayen, and other civilians arrested during the Makati standoff.
- condemnation of the arrest of media
- condemnation of unconstitutional curfew imposed
.
Led by Bayan (Bagong Alyansang Makabayan). Held on the birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio.
