Labyrinth Venice
2008.07.05
We put up at a campsite "Camping Jolly" which is 45 mins from Venice by bus. 10 euro per person per night in the tent. We hadn't had high expectation from its category: campsite. But it was surprisingly value for money. Private lockable tent, clean bed, free flowing hot shower, lots of space for everyone and cheap, we simply couldn't ask for more.

We had a neighbor at Camping Jolly. The one with the roundest tummy in photo. A Malaysian doing post grad in Budapest. Later, we found out that he was also addicted to Bangkok. He knows all the useful Thai phrases for instructing the masseuse.

Budget remained our primary doctrine. So we explored on foot instead of passing the tourist pass that would allow boat taxi rides. We planned to navigate the maze of bridges and plazas and alleys to ultimately reach the grandest piazza. And we did reach there, but only after 3 hours of asking for directions.

This piazza would be where we discover the meaning of grandness, and of Venice in its time of richness.

lol, you all were really on budget huh? but then again when i was in europe i would just walk everywhere instead of taking public transport (or cab..that's just daylight robbery!)... and you get to see more sights that way!
ohh and i hate those pigeons! i was in gare de lyon waiting for my tgv.. and i'm damn scared that they would shit on my head!
