The lunar seventh month (hungry ghost festival) must be around the corner. It usually is, when the 'getais' (singing stage thingy) are everywhere. The temple just below our place just had one this evening, started early at 6pm, with residence belting out oldies.

One of the thing that continue to haunt me from Tan Pin Pin's latest documentary "invisible city" was when Marjorie Doggette, a 80-year-old caucasian photographer lady, who had lived in Singapore since the 50s said that Singapore "..is not a good place to grow old". p told me that "we live and fall with the country, for those who chose to stay"....live and fall....that is a scary thought.
