THE GOOD EARTH

2008.05.25
Pearl Buck and her book - The Good Earth is one of my five favorites writers and books. This is a book for everyone to learn more about life, about humans.

Many times I read and re-read this book and each time it tells me more and more ...
This time I got inspired to take these shots at St.Jacobs Farm, where i usually go to one Mennonite family to buy fresh products, flowers, pure honey...

This is their farm from distance

Last time I was here I saw all girls and boys of this family on their knees working hardly ...It was very impressive , but as you know Mennonite people do not allow taking shots of them...So I missed to transfer those impressive pictures to my photos . I respect that !

Is this EART black and hard , is this earth friendly to accept these kids to work on it ?

Is this EARTH gold and rich? Is this EARTH going to bring happiness to this family and all of us who love their products..Oh, I love their Yukon Gold Potato..and carrots, and onion, and cabbage...I pray for this EARTH to be gold just like I make it GOLD on this picture .

Little GREENS are appearing so slowly and shy !

Did not ask them what it is for, but I liked it..Looked so powerful to my eyes :))

ThePearlView This sooo makes me want to run and go reread the book.
Very earthy set,I like the different perspectives and colors you captured of the soil and landscape.
The towering silo upright is cool too!

TheCrazyCroat Beautiful series. You have a great artistic flair for your shots and editing. I also like how many of your entries come full circle and tell a story. Nice angles too.

camilleauteuil I read all the Pearl Buck's books for a long time (when I was young ! ) - I prefer Peony ; your phallic towers seem to me surly ... but the earth and the furrows are beautiful !!
