my advise to everyone who have been censored is: "befriend" everyone and let everyone befriend you. it's really no big deal. this "friend only" firewall is an annoying nonsense here on photoblog, anyway... either you WANT to publish and share your photos to the community's audience, or you don't (and then don't upload them). "friend's only" is used here as an euphemism for "possible adult content" - which is, i guess, a strategy of photoblog management to avoid being taxed as a service that actually allows adult content. i'm nto sure if this is a requirement to make business with google ads, but i wouldn't be surprised if that's what's behind all this.
