Venezia scherza (3)

2008.04.11
Venice is in a different dimension: where directions like left or right don't make much of a difference.

journal hole

This rare Venetian species struck my peripheral vision while I wasn't wearing my specs, and only a moment later, while taking a picture of some random dirty blue tubes that I knew [almost] none of my friends would approve of, I saw the tag above it. Very imaginative! Upon arrival back to England, I googled 'hedera veneta' and discovered that other people have taken notice of it as well: e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rscano/ or http://www.flickr.com/photos/48178445@N00/265391382 or http://www.escritoenlapared.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Calle of Jesus and Maria...what better name for a street containing a house with the number 666!

wooden items or luxury. Above these hung awesome wooden underpants on a string (no, not strings, how would you imagine someone carving out strings out of wood? normal boxer underpants, suspended on a washing-line as if to dry), but right behind the underpants I saw the author's face, and so I quickly retreated (one is not normally allowed to take photos of art-objects, although in Italy this rule seems to be not as strict as in the UK, and the worst you can get is being told off).

I may not have succeeded intaking a photo of the artificial wooden underpants (which are not to be see on picture #6) but I managed to take a shot of some organic washing.

someone forgot me :(

nine posh virgin white umbrellas were sitting in a bin...eight white umbrellas...no white umbrellas...

in a cathedral (forgot which one of all). Shweet!

this one was imported from Pisa earlier this year.

Storks bring the babies, pigeons take them away...

Numerous origami masters seek success, fame, or at least a couple of dimes in the streets and calles of Venice. As well as exclusively black and male vendors of ugly and cheap ladies' handbags who spread their assortment on old blankets (presumably stealthily taken out behind their landlord's back) right on the pavement. Not to mention the omnipresent rose-boys who are capable of interrupting even the most romantic moment with their offers.
