"Of Sea and Sky"

I feel as though I am drowning
Under time’s deluge
I wish I’d cleared the water
Whilst still ankle deep
But invisible weights drag me down
And I shrink from the surface
Small and
Smaller
Now

The sky dissipates
And away float my
Qualms
And over me washes a strange
Sort of, half calm
And pangs of regret follow the sky
And I ponder
Ponder
Why

And Poseidon shakes
The earth and out spits the sea
Me
And like a fish on dry land
I struggle for a breath
And hatching from an egg, I blink away the blindness
And draw my first
Fateful
Breath

And the sky sheds a balmy red
On your sweaty face
And as I look back at Neptune
The breathless mermaid I became
Dissipates away and
I struggle for an answer
And I ask
Ask
Why.
