The empty, lifeless “Fibonacci” shell, like a
skeleton depleted of its past disrespected
marine life.
In resting on its rim, we may see its different
shapes. Perfect lines leading out in all direction
from a single point in the spiral and meeting up
again in another single point. It is empty inside,
an absence of life that slipped away owing to the
environmental conditions facing its habitat, the
ocean.
The sculpture is a representation of the beauty,
the harmony and the frailty of marine life. Made
of stamped iron scraps that have been recycled
into art, it seeks to show how one of the solutions
lies in re-use and how awareness changes the
destiny of debris produced by humankind.
The purpose is to recycle, to correctly aim at
transforming what fails to have any use into
something artistic and harmonious. The idea
conveyed is that it is possible to care for our
oceans and nurture life in them.
