Distance represents physical space, the interval
between any two places. It also represents a
space of time, a period of time that measures
the distance between two facts, two eras. In
short, the vastness of the sea that we broached
5 centuries before.
But there is another distance, that which is
caused by man’s dissatisfaction when he is
faced with the unknown. The path to knowledge
is long.
Perhaps the supreme human accomplishment
lies in the synthesis between the immanent and
the transcendental, symbolized by the horizon
line that separates the area between the Sky, and
its mirror, the Sea.
The red carpet ennobles a certain spirit of
adventure and non-resignation as opposed to
the inferior condition of man’s weakness.
A flight from weakness, into the infinitive.
The chair appears not as a symbol of nostalgia.
But rather it indicates absence. It represents all
those who have left it empty and have headed off
in an attempt to achieve their distances.
