there was, a long time ago, a japanese bar i used to go to, with G, and we would eat the soup. It was before we really knew about japanese food, so we were kind of experimenting in the end, its all good, miso, ramen... it was tiny, this bar, you sat at these narrow benches, knees cramped, looking at yourself in the mirrors they had on the walls. and i still think of those soups as exotic and I've had them since but not the same thing
