In a world full of flattery
In a world strikingly trifling

Tosali, a little girl with a huge smile on her face and twinkles in her big, beautiful eyes, has been abandoned by her incapable mother and placed in the hands of some Chinese women at an orphanage.

I remember the first time I saw her. She was pretty much the only baby that wasn't crying at that moment. She was lying in the rocker thingies that go up and down, not making a sound but just watching the world go by. The most significant thing about her, though, was the fact that both her arms were in a cast.

I was later told by one of the women working there that Tosali's mother had gone to the bathroom, leaving Tosali with the mother's sister (Tosali's aunt) to take care of her. The aunt did quite the contrary, however, and handled the baby's crying by taking her arms and breaking them.

It's all so ridiculous.
