Man Annah, this freedom is also Canada's!! The freedom to assemble and the freedom of speech, and as long as they cause no harm or riot in the streets!! I too respect our own police force - and this is to "serve and protect" and not to "over power and destroy"!! This is a very powerful story of a abuse of power - a society that has not got their priorities in the right order!! I do hope that they go after the power that allowed this to happen and not to the police that were given these direct orders. I can only comment on this story - there maybe other factors, but it is not evident!!

Your shots ring of symbolism about the plight of the people, for the people, by the people!! Even as a Canadian, I know much about your society!! Again, you show amazing courage through your post - such courage is becoming rare in our society, so I will tip my hat off to you again, and say "Bravo" Annah to stand up to be counted!! You are one brave lady!! - Art PS: There will be some that will not comment here - this is the silent majority. I hope they speak their peace - after all, it is their right to exercise this (for or against) in both the USA and in Canada!! Thank you again for this very provocative post!!

Thanks for posting. We all need to speak up—complacency allows things to get worse.

I agree with you and I was also sickened when I read about this! Something we all should think about here on the blog...freedom of speech. We may not always get a kind comment however it does not mean we should attack one another in a severe and vial manner. I am not directing this at you Annah, your post has just made me think....

you take such beautiful photographs of things that could go in a coffee-table book. ornamental. non-controversial. and then you pull of shots that are completely symbolic. filled with deep thought and social commentary. you're well-rounded. and effective. kudos.
