Pain~Agony~Tears

2007.06.11

This is my entry for the theme game this week. I suggested the topic for this week...Pain, Agony, Tears.
I just feel emotions do not present the true self. We just react differently to different situations at different times...
I know many of you feel pained in seeing these pictures but trust me they belong to a very happy moment! Everybody has seen pictures of happy people at a wedding. I chose to present the other side.

This particular event was the morning after the wedding when the couple was leaving for the groom's home. In India when a bride leaves her parents' home after marriage she leaves behind everything she had before...only memories, love and dreams go with her...so is the saying...
Everything was fine until the breakfast was over...and then it dawned on the bride that she would be going away...and then she started to cry...the parents and relatives joined in...even the happy man in the middle was affected...he told me later that he was trying not to think about what was going on...he was trying to think about everything else...like trees, stones, cars, sky, birds, sun, etc...the crying was so loud that the policemen at the Station next door must have gotten ready to "investigate". It was unfurling at tremendous speed and I was glad that I was carrying my camera because the official photographer was nowhere to be seen...I just went on clicking mechanically...like a reporter...detached from the entire scene...as if I was watching a movie minus the emotions...only this time it was real...and as I turned towards the exit I saw the father of the groom...another proud and happy man...wiping away tears while many others chose to walk or stay away from the crying scene...does it make them weak? does it make them strong? I don't think so. Nobody needs to be so stoic...just let your emotions out as they flow...because that is your true self...
By the way, these pictures are posted without their knowledge...if they find out...they will kill me...but again dying in the name of journalism has always fuelled my thoughts...and again, if I were dead..it wouldn't matter would it?...hahaha

rolpa Great photos. Very powerful. They ought not be concerned at this honest portrayal of emotion.
rolpa · 2007-06-12: 20:21

Cabecilha I've read the long text... (my latest entry has a big one too) and, although I don't expect photoblog to become a blog on literature, I do believe that WE SHOULD HAVE SOME MORE TEXTS :)

lopamudra mohapatra hi! bhai..............nice work..........................emotions are something which are difficult to be jughed...........the moment i waz in my dads arms.......early that morning, the whole world waz like strangers to me.But he hugged me and said me one thing,"our culture is to accept......our culture is to share and our happiness should be in serving..........it is his dignity and my pleasure to get a loving family..........and a addition to my loved one's.marraige is difficult for a girl but not difficult for those who know how to make others their own......After marraige i understood that a girl looses nothing.....specialy not her parents.......she becomes more close to them........and a marraige runs perfect if she know to accept both the family properly......and if she gets a wonderful husband n good inlaws......it makes every thing go nice n luk beautiful...............
