This is the entrance to an upscale subdivision in Prospect, KY.

In this area, lots and (consequently) houses are quite pricey.

Still there was an area left undeveloped.

The sign says: Ancient American Burial Mound

How we honor the people who came before us tells a lot about a society.
Pezzetta's latest post shows one way of solving the "problem" of old graves...I am trying to show here a more respectful approach that I wish my people would also adopt, no matter how scarse or expensive land might be...

lgnelson I agree! Aren't there some Indian mounds just across the Mississippi near West Memphis?

darfoster Lovely set, Agi! Let's hope we are never so crowded that we don't respect those that have come before us!

RayNvb Right on! We have a protected area for Native Americans here in Virginia Beach also. Our area is one of the first white settlements in the US.
RayNvb · 2011-01-24: 04:44
????? I don't understand P's post -- are they just disposing of the body?! I like the respect shown in yours.

NellyBly Lovely place..when I saw your photo of the undeveloped part I thought it looked like a mound..glad I was right and really glad they left it undisturbed. We have several of those in my area..Thanks for posting!

????? I have just seen his post... thanks to your link.
Our society hardly respects living beings... how can it have respect for the dead?
Very miserable and poor of values... "modern" and "civilized" humans...

I wish to be put on fire and leave nothing except ashes of me.
