This is the oldest church in Paris, built in AD 990on the foundations of a Merovingian basilica, which were uncovered in 1970.

Back when the Louvre was still a royal palace (Palais du Louvre), Église Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois was its church.

The bell tower is the only element that survives from the 12th century, (although it was later given a Gothic renovation).
The church was reconstructed in the late 13th century, then enlarged with side aisles in the 15th century, when it attained its current appearance.

On my way back to the hotel, I alrady stored my camera, so when this strangely dressed young man appeared in front of me, I took too long to get my gear operational thus I could only catch him from the back...I am hoping it was some weird school uniform rather than the next trend in men's fashion....

1, 3, 10???!!! I can't decide which one of this fabulously detailed set I like more. Truly magnificent. And great job framing the first one. That did not escape me.

Agi, these are all so wonderful I can't possibly pick a favorite. I love the angle and the framing in the first. 10 is awesome and I love the shadow and light in 12!
