Japan Diaries [Day 14]

2007.10.09
'Dinner' on the (Malaysian Airlines) flight at midnight. This was Matt's.

... and my meal. As you can see, Matt got the better choice :P

Free mini-icecreams to finish. Yay for icecream! :D

After sleeping overnight, this was 'breakfast' (croissant was apple & custard, and a chocolate muffin).

Upon getting home again, I realised I didn't take any pictures in Melbourne Airport (I was just excited to be in Australia!), so this will have to do... messy suitcases. Enjoy ;)

Day 14 [October 9th]

* I’m feeling pretty sleepy by the time we board our last leg (KL-->Melbourne; 7.5hrs) at 9:30pm, and spend the next couple of hours trying to stretch my legs, wrapping myself in the blanket Malaysian Airlines provide, playing the DS and watching TV shows. After being served dinner at around 11pm or so (which was actually nice!), I can’t keep my eyes open very much longer and drift into the land of (kind of restless sleep) for a few hours. Later, I can’t believe I actually fell asleep and am proud of myself as a result! Sadly, we have even less space on this flight, due some ladies in the seats in front of us fully reclining the whole flight and having real difficulties fitting into their seats (I feel sorry for them both, it must have been most uncomfortable!).

* I wake properly at about 5:30am (Melb. time) with the sound of the breakfast cart coming around. Groaning, I don’t think I can stomach a big breakfast like the flight to Tokyo, but we’re surprised by a small snack – muffin and croissant… much better! I switch on some anime (Kaleido Star is playing!) and we soon start the descent into Melbourne. Much excitement as we have a safe and steady landing – and while being back in Australia is a little bittersweet, I’ve never been happier to be on firm ground again! We navigate immigration and customs pretty easily, we aren’t randomly searched (I watch too much Border Security!) and before we know it, are thrust into a 7-degree Melbourne morning, at 8am! After the humidity of Japan, it’s a shock to the system and we freeze in our t-shirts and shorts :P

* Within another two hours, we’re home again – greeted by a clean house (which I’m glad I did before leaving for the trip!), an inviting bed and space to stretch out again. There are still mementos from our trip spread throughout the house and eventually they’ll find their own places… but for the time being, they’re a visible reminder of the holiday of my dreams, something I’ll treasure for the rest of my life.

The End! :D

Alberto Tensai I'm visiting Japan in a few days, and this has been really helpful (especially for the food prices, of which I had no idea!). Arigatou yo!

I'm from Mexico and I am really surprised to see that globalization is actually true hahaha: the Anchor New Zealand Butter and Magnum ice cream are available in our country too.
