[There she is... waiting]

I get home from work and find the neighbour's cat waiting in her usual spot, near my sliding door. I sit down for a quick pat and a couple of photos, when I hear the neighbour calling the cat's name.

The voice comes from VERY close by, and in an instant just know the cat won't be allowed to come anywhere near my place again. I feel saddened, yet guilty about the whole situation and feel I owe the neighbours a letter of apology, or at the very least a couple of the photographs their cat has willingly sat for. After all, this has been a good opportunity to improve my animal photography.

I decide to keep the blinds near the sliding door closed for the time being, I have the feeling the neighbours are keeping a close eye on me...

Lindyart oh why do you need to apologise just because the cute kitty comes and hangs out near your place some ..all cats do that .. I have over the years had cats come and hang out .. see with Cats ..they pretty much do what THEY want ...

I love the 2nd shot :)

focussed I have to say, I'm feeling everyone else's comment in regards to the fact you shouldn't need to apologize. If your neighbors don't want their cat to visit you then maybe they shouldn't let it outside at all....It's not like your bringing it inside the house and letting it sleep on the end of your bed or anything....
What is it's name btw?.... the second shot is gorgeous....

KerBear That second shot is so fantastic :) and the cats face in that first one makes me laugh!! I love when cats get that intense look on their little faces... so cute :)

AriesTyger Awww... what a sweetie pie! You don't have to feel bad that kitty is sharing the love. I bet they'd love some pictures though. :)

Lynda My cats pop in to lots of neighbourhood gardens and I found out recently that Cody lets a small 4 year old boy stroke him in a garden a few doors away. Cats are free spirits and you can't stop them wandering once they're out. I think a couple of photos would help the neighbour accept you are interested in their cat as a subject and not wanting to catnap it.

PaperWings Do the neighbors fear a kidnapping? :) I would love for my neighbor to pet my cat...instead she just complains when Flux meanders over to their porch. You can be my neighbor anytime. Especially if you take some shots like these of my little fur balls.

ambersunsets The neighbors should feel honored. These photos are great.
