I'm so sorry to hear about your loss...My mom had a pair of lovebirds when I was little, and I can still hear their chirps in my head when I think of them. I am sure that you will miss him greatly. My condolences.

Having lost a few of my dearest companions in my time, I hope you're ok... What a beautiful little bird he is :) It's wonderful that you will have a great 16 years to remember him by.

There is a sentence I've heard in some old old series when I was a kid and since then I wanted to have it written on my headstone (and I still want to :) ): "Reminisce me with a smile on your face, otherwise don't reminisce me at all" (although I know it in my native language, so I don't know is my translation good... hmm...should be...) Feel happy and lucky you knew him, reminisce him smiling, miss him, but in a good way.
