So there I was, filling out this yar's tax return forms online when I heard an almighty crack...

... which turned out to be the glass panel of my sliding door (to the courtyard) shattering. No, it wasn't a bird, the neighbour's cat wasn't to be found and there were no stones or rocks around. Could it just have shattered on its own?

My guess is the FREEZING temps you get down under, what 70 in the winter. Wanna trade for the -30 here.

oh dear. Could a bird have flown into it and then gotten flustered and flown away?

I think a bird hit it and was too embarrassed to stick around. LOL

ooooh - very strange indeed? No other sound accompanied it, huh?? If it was just the cracking sound I would discount the above suggestions of the bird... because that most defintiely would have been accompanied by a very loud thud! Humm...

My guess is that the house was changing position, due to the rain we've had lately making the previously drought-shrunken groud swell. You might want to have a look around the house for any new cracks in the walls etc. Just a guess :)
