I finally have my new (repaired) lens back from the camera store, a labour of love after being given it by my wedding photographer who had since replaced his with a functioning model.

It cost $180AU to repair, which was much less than I would have gotten a new model for... so I'm thrilled!

The only downside to this lens, with such gorgeous colour and clarity, is that the autofocus (AF) is incompatible with my camera body (a Nikon D40X). Looks like I'll be having many adventures in manual shooting in the near - and distant - future! ;)

... Or an upgrade to a D300 (wishful thinking :P)
