King witnesses Trooping of Colours in conjunction of birthday

Hundreds of people gathered at Independence Square as they joined His Majesty Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and Tuanku Nur Zahirah to celebrate the King's official birthday in Kuala Lumpur.

The King arrived at 8am, and was greeted by the national anthem followed by a 21-gun salute. He then boarded an open-top vehicle to inspect the guard-of-honour mounted by the Malaysian Armed Forces.

During the inspection, five helicopters bearing a flag each – the Jalur Gemilang, the Armed Forces Flag, the Royal Malaysian Army flag, Royal Malaysian Air Force flag and Royal Malaysian Navy flag – made a fly pass over Dataran Merdeka. Prime Minister Najib Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also witnessed the hour-long ceremony.
