Muhammad Ashraf or Asyraf, 26, from Penang is the first Imam Muda (Young Imam) Champion. The victory was announced by the Imam Muda Principle Ustaz Hassan Mahmood during Finals programme in Kuala Lumpur. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 30/07/2010
After a nine weeks journey that shaped a new paradigm in religious entertainment and attracting both local and international media attention, Imam Muda (Young Imam) has reached its Finals with Hizbur Rahman bin Omar Zuhdi (Hizbur) from Baling, Kedah and Muhammad Ashraf bin Muhd Ridzuan (Asyraf) from Penang vying for the title of Imam Muda Champion.
The final challenge consist of, the Imam Muda finalists (hizbur and Asyraf) presenting a religious sermon, reciting the Qu'ran in rhythmic tones, singing religious hymns and answering questions related to the Islamic Law.
The Imam Muda Champion will be awarded a contractual position as Imam Ratib in one of the mosque in Federal State, a 'Diamond' scholarship to Al Madinah International University, Saudi Arabia, a car, a complete Haj & Umrah package, a holiday package in Bandung, furniture, a laptop and handphone including Imam Muda trophy inclusive of a participation certificate and an accreditation card certify by Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Department (JAWI).
The Imam Muda hopefuls are judged and graded by the Mudir (Principle), Ustaz Hassan Mahmud Al-Hafiz, former Grand Imam of National Mosque and assisted by two Mursyid (Mentor).
